The Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure underwent significant reforms that took effect on January 1, 2010. Since then, several more important amendments have come into effect, most recently the changes made to Rule 76, also known as the Simplified Procedure rule, effective January 1, 2020. Changes include an increase of the monetary limit to $200,000 and the requirement of a Trial Management Plan to be agreed upon 30 days before the pretrial conference. Additionally, the Small Claims monetary jurisdiction will increase to $35,000.
